The Vita American Foulbrood (AFB) Diagnostic Test Kit enables beekeepers and hive inspectors to test for AFB in honeybee larvae and to obtain the results immediately and easily in the apiary. One time use only.

It works like a home pregnancy test kit (or the now common Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Test) and reacts specifically to antibodies associated with the pathogen Paenibacillus larvae subsp. larvae which causes AFB in honeybees.

How to tell? One line in the window confirms the test is working correctly, and two lines says the test is positive for AFB. If positive, advise Assure Quality, get a fire permit and burn the hive.  Lets get rid of AFB by doing our due diligence and testing before it spreads.

*This is also a great test to conduct before purchasing a hive. Ask them to conduct an AFB test before bringing it to your apiary site.

But don’t burn false inspection positives. Use the AFB test kit to confirm or refute a visual inspection. Your hives and honey crop are too valuable to burn false positives.
